April 8th, 2010 ABC's 20/20 aired a special report on the sexual abuse of children by USA Swimming Coaches. In the report Ken Stopkotte a coach with the Fishers Tigers located in Fishers, Indiana spoke out against the abuse in defense of the children. Coach Stopkotte is a great Coach, and a Great role model for his swimmers, and the sport as a whole. Coach Stopkotte is a highly respected coach not only in Indiana but across this nation. After this report and his willingness to step forward and speak for these abused children. Coach Stopkotte's 27 year Career as Coach is in Jeopardy. Coach Stopkotte is a current Indiana Swimming Board Member, and was awarded Coach of the year in 2009. Coach Stopkotte is now coming under attack by USA, and Indiana Swimming for doing what was right. He spoke out sternly when Brian Henson was arrested a couple years ago for taping girls in the locker room she was vocal in the media when a Lawrence Township coach was arrested for molestation of a female swimmier. I have been with USA Swimming as a Referee for over 15 years, and know firsthand the admiration and dignity this man, coach, husband, father, and mentor has. I ask for you to review the video, and if you disagree with the potential of Coach Stopkotte losing his carrier, contact USA and Indiana Swimming at the following contacts, and have your friends and family to do the same. Coach Stopkotte started his current team three years ago with about 30 swimmers, and has grown to well over 200 athletes, and is now ranked third in Indiana. Everyday after school for the past 2 months, he had been doing this on his computer in his bedroom. "I just got an E-mail one day and I figured what the heck, I put my name on it like the instructions said and I started sending it out", says the 15-year-old. The E-mail letter he received had 5 names and addresses listed on it and contained instructions on how to send one $5 dollar bill to each person on the list. Then delete the name and address at the bottom of the list (Report # 5) and move the other 4 names and addresses down one step, finally adding your own name and address to the top of the list (Report # 1). The letter goes on to state that you would receive several thousand dollars in five-dollar bills within 2 weeks if you sent out the letter with your name and address at the top of the 5-address list. "I get junk E-mail all the time, and really did not think it was going to work", the boy continues. Within the first few days of sending out the E-mail, the Post Office Box that his parents had gotten him for his video-game magazine subscriptions began to fill up not with magazines, but envelopes containing $5 bills. "About a week later I rode my bike down to the post office and my Post Office Box had 1 magazine and about 300 envelopes stuffed in it." Over the next few weeks, the boy continued sending out the E-mail. "The five dollar bills just kept coming in and I just kept sorting them and stashing them in the closet, I barely had time for my homework". He had also been riding his bike to several of the banks in his area and exchanging the $5 bills for twenties, fifties and hundreds. "I didn't want the banks to get suspicious so I kept riding to different banks with like five thousand at a time in my backpack. I would usually tell the lady at the bank counter that my dad had sent me in to exchange the bills and he was outside waiting for me. One time the lady gave me a really strange look and told me that she would not be able to do it for me and my dad would have to come in and do it, but I just rode to the next bank down the street (laughs)." Got an idea for doing a short 'V' fan fiction... it's remake that's on ABC not the original 1980s series which was on NBC. Anyway here's a couple scenes from the story. These scenes are mostly a comedy type thing: Scene: "Always have a back up." It was 8:30am on Wednesday in New York City. Aside form the cold, it was a typical Fall day. Most of the leaves on the trees in Central park had changed color and fell off the branches. For the most part, it was just another in Manhattan or so it seemed. A flock of pigeons flew by one of the large windows of the V ship and then headed towards Central park. Sitting at her desk, Anna watched the birds until they were no longer in sight. Right at the moment she was busy sorting paperwork; most of it required her signature. She stopped writing and sighed, her hand and fingers were getting tired from holding the ballpoint pen she had been using the last 20 minutes. A couple seconds later she finished signing what looked like a permission slip of some sort. "There, last one." she said to herself. But just when she thought she was done, Anna noticed another small stack of papers sitting on the right hand side of the desk. "Ok... great." she groaned; Anna hardly left things unfinished and she had been putting off looking at the paperwork and mail that came in on a regular basis. It didn't take long for her to get herself together and go back to reading and signing the next stack of papers. At the moment, Anna was caught up in her work and didn't notice the door had opened. Joshua walked in and tried to get her attention. "Anna," he said but she didn't respond so he tried again. "Anna..." still didn't work. He then walked up to her "Anna?" he asked as he tapped her on the shoulder. "Yikes!" she exclaimed, she jumped a little and dropped her pen; the stack of paperwork also scattered. "Did I come at a bad time?" Joshua asked. "You scared me." Anna replied. "Heh-heh, sorry." Joshua said nervously. "It's ok, where's Marcus?" Anna asked as she picked up the papers that fallen on the floor. "He's off today, I'm filling in for him." Joshua answered. "He has the day off?" Anna asked once more. "You didn't know?" Joshua answered in surprise. Anna scratched her neck before she replied. "No." "Well, he's off for today and he asked me to cover for him." Joshua explained. "You?!" she said in a rather shocked tone and laughed for a moment. Joshua went over to the other side of the desk, picked up some of the paper and handed it over to Anna. "Hey! I can handle a schedule, it's no problem." said Joshua. Anna blinked for a moment. "Ok." she sighed and sat back down at her desk. Joshua watched her for a couple minutes before he spoke. "Paperwork got you bogged down?" Anna stopped writing to answer, "In a way, my hand's getting tired." "Ouch..." said Joshua, just then he thought of something. "Oh! I got a list of things on the schedule... Marcus wrote it out last night." "And?" was the reply he got from Anna. "Hold on, let me check." Joshua continued. Anna groaned at hearing this. "Relax, I got this." Joshua insisted. "Uh-huh," Anna said in a dull tone, nonetheless she managed to keep her cool. Yep, it was one of those days. 2nd one-"Working it all out" "It's crazy, I mean all we've done is just a couple interviews...sure, we've been friends for a while but that's it." Chad explained. Currently he was taking to Valerie. Normally he was the type that wouldn't go to a psychologist or 'shrink' but after a while Chad decided he need some professional help. Valerie looked up from her notepad and snickered. "What's so funny?" Chad asked. "Chad, if I didn't know any better I'd say you're in love with Anna." Val answered. Chad nearly fell out of his seat. "No, no, that's ridiculous... there's no way I'm in love with her." "I'm just saying..." Valerie replied. "Uh-huh, sure." said Chad. "Ya know there's four ways to tell when a person is talking about something or someone that's bothering them and they try to get around it... denial, anger, doubt and acceptance." Valarie explained. "O...kay, still I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's no way I'm in love with Anna!" Chad continued. "Step one...denial." said Valerie Two seconds later... "Oy... this is too much. Could use critique for story excerpts?
I was told it had been passed again on a national level. I went to Pa. UC page & nothing New there, then I found a story on ABC News from Friday that it was extended for another 30 days, but it'll prob take 20 days for it to be put thru. Still NOTHING specifically on PA.
